What to know about Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises is the premium brand of Royal Caribbean Group, sitting above Royal Caribbean International on price and design and below the small-ship luxury lines. Its pitch is a modern, design-led ship with a stronger food-and-wine emphasis and markedly fewer of the large-scale family attractions its sister brand is known for.

The Edge series is the line's signature: it replaced conventional balconies with Infinite Verandas, where the cabin wall opens onto the sea, and added the Magic Carpet, a moving platform that repositions along the ship's side. The older Solstice and Millennium ships, refreshed through the line's refit programme, cover the rest of a schedule that spans the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe and the Galápagos.

Celebrity Cruises: frequently asked questions

What is an Infinite Veranda?

It is a cabin design in which the balcony is enclosed within the room: the upper window opens and a bifold door separates the seating area from the rest of the cabin. It gives a larger indoor space in exchange for a balcony that is part of the room rather than outside it — a genuine matter of preference, not a straight upgrade.

How does Celebrity differ from Royal Caribbean International?

Both belong to Royal Caribbean Group, but Celebrity runs smaller, quieter ships aimed at adults, with a heavier emphasis on dining, design and destination, while Royal Caribbean International builds the group's large family resorts at sea. Loyalty status is recognised across both.

Does Celebrity operate in the Galápagos?

Yes. Celebrity runs purpose-built small ships in the Galápagos year-round, sold as expedition-style itineraries with naturalist guides. These operate under Ecuadorian park rules and are booked and priced quite differently from the main fleet.
