Frequently asked questions

What is the Social Influence Briefing?

It is a free daily briefing for people who influence through ideas rather than pressure. Each edition teaches one durable communication practice, made concrete for today, with the words to say, the evidence behind it, the signs it is going wrong, and a check you can observe within 24 hours.

Is each edition news?

No. Persuasion research moves in years, not days, so the core of every edition is a durable practice, labelled as not new. A situation section appears only when a dated, citable event exists, such as a named platform policy change or a published study. Most days have none.

How often is the briefing published?

Once a day, on this site. Each edition is 600 to 900 words and is built around a different source from the last, with at least three audience profiles named.

Is the briefing free?

Yes. Every edition is published on this site with no account and no paywall. An email edition is planned but is not sending yet.

How do I know a practice is ethical?

Every technique has to pass the disclosure test: would it still work if the listener knew exactly what you were doing and why? Techniques that only work when hidden are not published.
