This site offers general information about communication, with no warranty. Use it with respect for the people you communicate with, because influence has to respect their autonomy.
General information only
This briefing offers communication strategy and ethical influence guidance. It does not replace legal, therapeutic, or organizational advice. Influence must respect the autonomy of the person receiving it. Pages describe research and practice in general terms. Your situation, your relationships and the law where you live may call for something different, and you are responsible for what you decide to say and do.
Research findings are summarized briefly and can be read differently by other researchers. Read the original source before you rely on a result. Errors are possible, accuracy is not guaranteed, and a page may be out of date by the time you read it. Where a figure is not in the literature, we write Not reported. Results from the tools on this site are estimates based on what you enter, and nothing they show is a prediction of how a person will respond.
Acceptable use
Please use the site for lawful, honest purposes. Do not use its material to deceive, coerce, harass or exploit anyone, and do not use it to hide your intent from the people you are talking to. Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that harms other readers, or probe it for weaknesses.
Intellectual property
You may read, print and share these pages for personal use, and quote from them with attribution and a link. Republishing substantial portions, or reproducing pages in bulk for another site or for training a commercial dataset without permission, is not permitted. Links to other sites
Source links take you to pages run by other people, such as journals, publishers and regulators. We do not control them, and we cannot promise they will stay available or unchanged. A link is a pointer to a source, not an endorsement of everything on the linked site.
No warranty and limits of liability
This site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from use of this site, including damage to relationships, work or business, or financial loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
No affiliate links, no paid placement
This site has no affiliate links, carries no advertising and accepts no paid placement or sponsorship. If that changes, this section will be updated first and any such link will be clearly marked.
