The Social Influence Briefing Blog

Blog updated .

Longer essays on influencing through ideas rather than pressure, as a companion to the practice pages elsewhere on the site. They take up recurring questions that do not fit a single technique: the one question that sorts honest influence from manipulation, how to use a pause after someone stops talking, and how to tell from behavior that a conversation worked. This is an independent publication.

Frequently asked questions

How is the blog different from the practice pages?

The practice pages are task-shaped: one communication problem, the steps to handle it, words you can say and a way to verify the result. Blog posts are longer essays on the ideas that run through them, such as the Disclosure Test, pacing and observable verification.

How are the posts sourced?

Each post names its sources by author, year and venue, links to them, and marks where the evidence is thin or is practitioner consensus. They are general guidance and do not replace legal, therapeutic or organizational advice.

How often are new posts published?

Less often than the daily briefing, and only when there is something worth a longer piece. Existing posts are updated and their review date changed when a source or statement needs correcting.

Do blog posts contain affiliate links or ads?

No. The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and no placement in a post is paid for.
