Free Tesla Tools and Calculators
Section updated .
Four free calculators for the Tesla ownership decisions that come down to arithmetic: what a charge costs, how long a charge takes, whether a trip leg leaves the arrival buffer you want, and how your cost per mile compares with a gasoline car. Each uses only the numbers you enter, shows its formula, runs in your browser and needs no sign-up. This independent site is not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
Every tool page states its method in plain words and works through an example with clearly hypothetical numbers, so you can reach the same answer on paper if you prefer. Nothing you type leaves your browser, and nothing is stored.
The tools
Tesla Charge Cost Calculator
Turn kWh added and your price per kWh into a cost per charge, per mile or km, and per month.
Open the tool →Tesla Charging Time Estimator
Work out the minimum time to add a given amount of energy at a given charging power.
Open the tool →Tesla Trip Buffer Planner
Predict the arrival charge for a leg from your own consumption, and see whether the buffer holds.
Open the tool →Cost per Mile Comparison
Compare cost per mile or km and per year against a gasoline car, using only your own numbers.
Open the tool →How to use these well
Read your own figures off the car and your bills before you start — energy added from the charging summary, consumption from the car’s energy or trip screen, usable pack size from your owner’s manual, and your price per kWh from your tariff or receipt. The boxes start with hypothetical example values so each page works at first glance; replace them with yours. Menu and screen names differ between models and software releases, so check your owner’s manual if you cannot find a value. For ways to lower the cost of a charge, see the home charging schedule guide.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Tesla tools free?
Yes, all of them, with no sign-up. Each runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter is sent anywhere and nothing is stored after you close the page.
Do the tools connect to my car or my Tesla account?
No. You type in figures you can read from your own car’s screens, your electricity bill or your owner’s manual, and the calculation happens locally. There is no connection to your vehicle or your Tesla account.
How accurate are the results?
They are estimates built from stated formulas, and each page shows the method in words so you can check the working. The tools use only the numbers you enter, so figures from your own car and bills give far more useful answers than typical values.
Do the tools know my model’s battery size or efficiency?
No, deliberately. Pack size, consumption and charging power differ between models and battery types, so you supply them from your own car or owner’s manual. The values pre-filled in each form are hypothetical examples.
Do they work offline?
Yes. The pages and the calculations are self-contained, so they keep working without a connection once the page has loaded.
