Accuracy and limitations
Vulnerability status, patch guidance, vendor menus and legal requirements change quickly. Errors are possible and accuracy is not guaranteed, and a page may be out of date by the time you read it. Where a figure cannot be verified we write Not reported rather than estimating. See the editorial standards.
Results from the tools on this site are estimates based on the numbers you enter, not definitive advice. Each tool states its method and assumptions so you can check the working. They do not read anything from your systems.
Vendor documentation, the law and making changes safely
Your vendors’ documentation, your insurer’s requirements and the law where you operate take precedence over anything here. Test changes before you roll them out, keep a way to undo them, and make changes to production systems only if you are authorised to do so. If you are unsure, ask your IT provider.
