Routine type
A pared-back routine that prioritizes barrier support, fragrance-free formulas, and slow, single-active introduction.
Who it is for
- Reactive, stinging, easily-flushed skin.
- Rosacea-prone faces between flares.
- Eczema-adjacent skin types.
- Anyone burnt out on a complicated routine that no longer feels good.
Morning steps
- Water rinse or fragrance-free cream cleanser.
- Optional centella or panthenol serum.
- Ceramide + cholesterol + fatty acid moisturizer.
- Mineral SPF 30+ (zinc oxide preferred).
Evening steps
- Cream cleanser.
- Niacinamide 4–5% serum (every other night to start).
- Ceramide moisturizer.
Weekly treatments
- Twice a week from week 3: azelaic acid 10% or bakuchiol — well-tolerated anti-redness/anti-aging additions.
- Once a week: a single layer of an emollient mask (no fragrance, no clay).
- No exfoliating acids in the early weeks. PHAs (gluconolactone) are the gentlest entry if needed.
Common mistakes
- "Natural" essential oil-loaded products. Often more allergenic than synthetic fragrance.
- Trying every "skin-sensitive" line back-to-back. Different sensitive lines use different preservatives — one will react.
- Hot water and aggressive towel-drying.
- Stacking two actives the moment skin feels calmer.
