Routine type
A staged barrier-repair routine, divided into a 14-day reset and a 14-day reintroduction window. Conservative on purpose.
Who it is for
- Anyone stinging, peeling, red, or breaking out into inflamed bumps from "skincare gone too hard."
- Post-procedure skin during the early recovery window.
- Skin reacting to a new climate, travel, or seasonal shift.
Morning steps (Week 1–2 reset)
- Water rinse or cream cleanser.
- Optional: panthenol or centella serum.
- Ceramide-rich cream.
- Mineral SPF 30+ (zinc-based, fragrance-free).
Evening steps (Week 1–2 reset)
- Cream cleanser; if no makeup, a water rinse is fine.
- Panthenol/centella serum if available.
- Ceramide cream + small amount of petrolatum on the driest patches ("slugging" 2–3x/week).
Weekly treatments
- Weeks 1–2: nothing else. No acids, no retinoid, no benzoyl peroxide, no vitamin C. Yes, including the "gentle" ones.
- Week 3: reintroduce one active twice in the week (e.g., niacinamide 5%, or retinol 0.1% buffered).
- Week 4: add a second active twice in the week. Do not stack on the same night yet.
Common mistakes
- "Cleaning" a stinging face with a foaming wash — surfactants compound the damage.
- Adding a calming oil with fragrance (lavender, tea tree, rosehip with citrus notes).
- Trying to "push through" with the routine that caused it.
- Switching to ten new products at once. Same problem, different shelf.
- Confusing irritation for "purging." True purging shows in places you already break out, and resolves quickly.

Seasonal adjustments
- Winter: add a humectant essence on damp skin before cream; consider a humidifier.
- Summer: the reset still applies; just use a lighter ceramide gel-cream.
- Travel: keep the reset routine in your bag for the first 2 days of any new climate.
