Amazon Seller Briefing: October 26, 2026
Amazon says NWD notices giving some brand owners Oct 27-28 removal dates were sent in error. Dangerous-goods listing questions start today, October 26, 2026.
Good morning, sellers! Welcome to October 26, 2026's edition. Today: Amazon has told some brand owners that the No Wholesale Distribution notices threatening removal on October 27-28 were sent in error, and the dangerous-goods listing questions and Amazon Shipping peak surcharges are now live. Let's dive in…
Data gathered at 6:04 AM ET, October 26, 2026.
No new Seller Central fee or Amazon Ads change was verifiable this morning. The Amazon news page carried nothing seller-facing for October 22-26, 2026, and the CPSC has posted nothing newer than the October 22 items covered Friday.
1. Top Story of the Day
Amazon says some NWD removal notices to brand owners were an error, with removal dates one to two days out
What happened: Sellers began reporting No Wholesale Distribution (NWD) listing restriction notices on October 14-15, 2026. The notices give a removal date of October 27, 2026 on one Seller Forums thread and "effective 2026-10-28" on a Sellers Ask Sellers thread. The wording quoted on the forums says the products "will continue to be available in the Amazon store, but only from sellers with the Brand Representative role." The same notice adds that a brand owner whose trademark is enrolled in Brand Registry and whose account holds the Brand Representative role "should still be authorized to sell it."
On October 20, 2026, a Sellers Ask Sellers member posted an Amazon email titled "Listing restriction sent in error, please disregard." It reads: "We recently sent you a No Wholesale Distribution (NWD) listing restriction in error that referenced a sell-through period for your inventory. This doesn't apply to you. Your listings haven't been removed and won't be removed." On a Seller Forums thread, a seller quoted Brand Registry Support: "I have confirmed that this notification was sent to your account in error. It was not intended for Brand Representatives, and no action is required on your end." An Amazon moderator wrote on another thread that the issue had been escalated "to our highest point of escalation."
Status: Reported. The retraction email and the support quote come from seller posts. Amazon has published no public notice.
Why it matters: The retraction is not reaching everyone. On October 23, 2026, the Sellers Ask Sellers original poster, a brand owner who holds the Brand Representative role, said the email never arrived. Seller Support could not send it and opened a case instead. For resellers without the role, the notice is not an error. It describes the restriction working as intended. EcomCrew's caution applies to both groups: "Owning the Trademark Is Not the Same as Having the Role."
Action items:
- If you received an NWD notice for your own brand, search your inbox for "Listing restriction sent in error, please disregard" today.
- If it is not there, open a Seller Support case before October 27, 2026. Reference the NWD email and include your Brand Registry enrollment details, as an Amazon forum moderator advised per a seller in the thread. Keep the case number.
- Confirm in Brand Registry that the exact selling account holds the Brand Representative role, not only Brand Administrator.
- If you resell the brand without the role, plan for the listing to go and check your FBA inventory exposure on those ASINs now.

2. Amazon Policy & Program Updates
Listings & Compliance
- Dangerous-goods questions apply from today. First covered September 29. From October 26, 2026, creating a listing or editing an existing one in four category groups requires answering new compliance questions. Amazon's September 25 announcement says the questions are meant "to help us identify dangerous goods, enable more ship methods, and reduce unnecessary disposal costs and fees." The groups are refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers (refrigerant gas), shock absorbers and suspension lift supports (shock-absorbing mechanism), markers and writing instruments (ink properties), and pool and spa water treatment products (chemical composition and packaging). The announcement names no penalty. The change today is that any edit, including a routine title or bullet change, now triggers the questions. (Sellers Ask Sellers)
Shipping
- Amazon Shipping peak surcharges began October 25. First covered in September. These apply to Amazon Shipping, the standalone parcel carrier, not FBA. Amazon says they are "additional to your contracted rates."
- October 25-November 21, 2026: $0.50 per-package demand surcharge, $8.75 additional handling, $96.25 large package, $530 extra heavy.
- November 22-December 26, 2026: $0.75, $11.90, $117.50 and $590.
- December 27, 2026-January 16, 2027: back to the first-period rates.
On 1,000 packages, that is $500 in demand surcharges in the first period and $750 in the second. (Amazon Shipping)
Seller Central Tools
- Multichannel tools rollout. First covered September 25. A Seller Central notice posted to Sellers Ask Sellers on October 23, 2026 says the tools that connect eBay, Shopify, TikTok and Walmart accounts to Seller Central are rolling out "gradually to US sellers at no additional cost." Amazon's announcement page says "over the coming months." (Sellers Ask Sellers; Amazon)
Action items:
- Before editing any listing in the four dangerous-goods groups, gather the refrigerant, ink or chemical details from your supplier's safety data sheet.
- If you ship on Amazon Shipping, add the surcharge to your landed cost per package before the November 22 step-up.
3. False Alarms & Noise Filter
Claim: Amazon is reassigning some ASINs to different fee categories effective October 31, 2026.
Status: Monitoring. First logged October 19.
What we know: With five days to go, there is still no Amazon announcement naming the categories or fee figures. Coverage still traces to agency write-ups. Check your Fee Preview report before acting. (Novadata)
4. Seller Community Pulse
- Priority Mail arriving no faster than Ground Advantage. A Sellers Ask Sellers thread started October 24, 2026 had 10 replies by October 26. A seller shipping within the lower 48 on October 24 got an expected delivery of October 30 for Priority Mail, the same as Ground Advantage. Another wrote: "the times for Priority and GA have been identical for quite some time now." A member quoted USPS saying the Priority Mail standard to Alaska, Hawaii and US territories moved from 2-3 days to 2-4 days on October 1, 2026, while the lower-48 target "remains targeted at 2–3 business days." We did not open the USPS page. These are seller reports. (Sellers Ask Sellers)
