Amazon Seller Briefing: October 2, 2026
Amazon Ads announced Review Requests on September 29, 2026 — a paid campaign that invites recent buyers to rate products with fewer than 1,000 ratings, entering US open beta in late October 2026. Separately, the US-China tariff truce was extended from November 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027, and LTL freight labels reach Amazon Buy Shipping in October.
Good morning, sellers! Welcome to October 2, 2026's edition. Today: Amazon Ads turns the review request into a paid campaign type, the US-China tariff truce moves from November 10 to January 10, and freight labels arrive in Amazon Buy Shipping this month. Let's dive in…
Data gathered at 6:05 AM ET, October 2, 2026.
1. Top Story of the Day
Amazon Ads makes review requests a paid campaign, with a US open beta in late October
What happened: At unBoxed 2026 on September 29, 2026, Amazon Ads announced Review Requests — an ad product that reaches customers who recently bought a product and invites them to leave a star rating or written review while they shop. Invitations run on Amazon's highest-traffic pages. Amazon's product page says it "launches in open beta in the United States in late October 2026."
Eligibility has two gates. The advertiser must be a registered seller or vendor with an advertising console account in good standing and no active policy violations. The product must have fewer than 1,000 total ratings and reviews, and requests pause automatically at the threshold. Campaigns are built in Amazon Ads Agent "using the same bidding and budget controls you use for your other Amazon Ads campaigns."
Why it matters: This is a bid-based lever on review velocity, sold by Amazon itself. Amazon says products in testing "received three times as many ratings and reviews per week compared to before the test." The Drum reported on October 1, 2026 that Ross Walker, Director of Retail Media at Acadia, scored it 10 out of 10 and called it "a legal lever for brands to pull to get more reviews."
Expert take: Read the footnote before the headline. The three-times figure is Amazon internal data from a US closed beta run June 3-21, 2026 — 19 days, before against after, with no control group disclosed. What Amazon has not published is the part a budget needs: no minimum bid, no pricing benchmark, no statement of what event is billed, no expected invitation volume.
The invitation asks for a rating, not a good one. A product with a quality problem buys its negative reviews faster. The fit is the case Summer Jubelirer of OLLY described to The Drum — "new product launches or products that just fall below 4.2 stars" — where the product is sound and the count is thin.
The September 29 edition found no verified 2026 announcement at press time; this is the first.
Action items:
- List ASINs under 1,000 ratings and rank them by return rate — spend only where the product earns the review.
- Do not follow Amazon's invitation with your own message steering unhappy buyers to support. That is review gating.

2. Amazon Policy & Program Updates
Tariffs & Trade
Update: the US-China tariff truce now runs to January 10, 2027. This publication has carried November 10, 2026 as the expiry date; that date is superseded. Caixin reported on October 1, 2026 that the Kuala Lumpur arrangement, struck in October 2025, "was extended to January 10, 2027." China's Ministry of Commerce announced it on September 28, 2026.
The same package includes a reciprocal plan to cut tariffs on roughly $30 billion of goods from each side. US cuts cover toys, home appliances, baby goods, kitchen items and holiday gifts. No list, rate or effective date exists yet: "Both sides will publish specific tariff reduction lists and implement cuts in unison once domestic legal procedures are completed by the end of 2026."
The cuts cannot be priced until the lists publish, and Q4 inventory has already landed — treat them as a 2027 landed-cost input. (Caixin Global)
3. False Alarms & Noise Filter
Claim: Review Requests launches in November 2026.
Status: Monitoring.
What we know: Both dates in circulation are Amazon's own. The product page, dated September 29, 2026, says open beta in late October 2026; the companion news article of the same date says "Launching November 2026." Amazon has not reconciled them. Plan on the later date. (Amazon Ads)
4. Marketplace Opportunities & Threats
LTL freight labels reach Buy Shipping in October, without a rate card
Setup: Amazon will sell less-than-truckload labels through Amazon Buy Shipping starting in October 2026, in Seller Central and third-party shipping software. Supply Chain Dive reported it September 30, 2026, quoting Ripley MacDonald, VP of Amazon Supply Chain Services: "When you use LTL through Buy Shipping, you take advantage of Amazon's special negotiated rates and receive protection from late deliveries."
Math: There is none to run yet. Amazon has not published rates, the carrier list or the accessorial schedule, and an LTL quote is not a final cost.
Who this fits: Merchant-fulfilled sellers of furniture, exercise equipment and palletized goods. FBA fees are unaffected.
Window: October 2026, no day given. Regional delivery pricing follows in early 2027.
Execute: Quote one lane against your current broker with accessorials included, and confirm what the late-delivery protection requires before relying on it.

5. PPC & Advertising Intelligence
DVA+ puts Display, Video and Audio in one campaign — "One objective, one budget, one campaign across all media types." It is in extended closed beta in the US, with open beta in late October 2026 and general availability in Q1 2027 across 35 markets. Sellers with Amazon Ads Agent accounts qualify, but PPC Land notes payment is invoice-only during closed beta, with credit card support planned for Q1 2027. (Amazon Ads; PPC Land)
6. International & Cross-Border
The EU sets its parcel handling fee at €2 per item, due November 1
The European Commission fixed the Union handling fee at €2 per product sold in a distance sale and imported from third countries, in a delegated act dated September 21, 2026. The fee is due no later than November 1, 2026. It stacks on the €3 flat duty in force since July 1, 2026 and is charged per item line, not per parcel — two distinct products in one box incur two fees. 7. Seller Community Pulse
Unavailable — no verified community signal from the past 24-48 hours.
