Amazon Seller Briefing: September 16, 2026

Amazon is making sellers reauthorize every agency and software provider with Seller Central access, on individual deadlines sent by notification through September 2026; a missed deadline cuts that access. Today, September 16, is the final FBA inbound deadline for Prime Big Deal Days, and Amazon.de tightened reference-price validation September 9.

Good morning, sellers! Welcome to September 16, 2026's edition. Today: Amazon's reset of outside access to Seller Central is reaching accounts one notification at a time, today is the last FBA inbound deadline for Prime Big Deal Days, and Amazon.de now suppresses reference prices it cannot see you charge. Let's dive in…

Data gathered at 6:05 AM ET, September 16, 2026.

Amazon published no new Seller Central policy, fee or Amazon Ads announcement that could be verified in the past 24-48 hours. The two Amazon items below date from earlier this month and have not run here before.

1. Top Story of the Day

Amazon is resetting every outside provider's access to Seller Central, on deadlines it sends account by account

What happened: Amazon is requiring sellers to reauthorize every outside agency, consultant and software provider that holds access to their Seller Central account, EcomCrew reported on September 3, 2026. Providers can request only the roles Amazon has approved for their service category in the Solution Provider Portal, and some Seller Central roles are now restricted to a seller's direct employees. Providers had until September 3 to update their role coverage.

There is no single deadline. Each seller gets its own in an Amazon notification rolling out through September 2026; miss it and all existing access those providers hold expires until restored manually. EcomCrew gives the path as User Permissions > Manage Services and puts each reauthorization at under a minute. Amazon's SP-API documentation confirms the term: an authorization "is good for 365 days," and must be renewed "every 365 days, or anytime you add a role to your application."

Why it matters: The failure is silent. A PPC agency, repricer, inventory planner or feedback tool that loses access simply stops working. The notices are landing in the three weeks before Prime Big Deal Days on October 6-7 and the October 15 start of peak fulfillment fees — the stretch when a repricer or bid rule going dark costs the most.

Expert take: The fix is fast; the exposure is the notice. A one-minute task becomes an outage when the email reaches an inbox nobody reads. The 365-day term is the second trap: access renewed in September 2026 lapses in September 2027, inside next year's Q4 run-up. The reset is also a clean moment to drop providers you no longer pay for.

2. Amazon Policy & Program Updates

FBA & Fulfillment

Today, September 16, 2026, is the final FBA inventory arrival deadline for Prime Big Deal Days, for shipments using Amazon-optimized shipment splits. Nothing on the calendar has moved; the next cutoffs are for Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday — October 14 for AWD, October 21 for FBA minimal splits and October 28 for Amazon-optimized splits. 3. International & Cross-Border

Amazon.de now suppresses reference prices it cannot see you charge

Amazon tightened Recommended Retail Price validation on Amazon.de effective September 9, 2026. Amazon.co.uk has run the same rule since June 23, 2026; other EU stores follow. Until now an RRP qualified if another retailer offered the product at that price, or if the offer had held the Featured Offer on Amazon for at least nine days. Under the new rule, sales on Amazon at the RRP, or within a small margin, count only if that offer appeared as the Featured Offer on the price history graph for a meaningful number of days in the last 90. The other route — other retailers recently offering it at that price — remains. An RRP that fails is suppressed, and the reference price stops showing on the listing. Amazon says the change keeps "savings clear and meaningful for customers and helps maintain trust in Amazon store's pricing."

The effect lands on the strikethrough: a reference price your offer has not sold at in 90 days is the one likely to disappear, taking the visible saving with it. Amazon has not defined "a meaningful number of days," so check Amazon.de reference prices against your 90-day price history before Q4 promotions go live. (ChannelX)

Alibaba puts 1688 and Alibaba.com under one executive

Kuo Zhang, president of Alibaba.com, now also oversees 1688, EcomCrew reported September 15, 2026; 1688's cross-border order volume grew 70% in 2024. No change to merchant terms, catalogs or buyer protection has been announced. The signal to watch is direct international purchasing on 1688 — that would change sourcing economics. (EcomCrew)

4. Marketplace Opportunities & Threats

eBay stops counting Live sales toward seller standing on October 15

Setup: From October 15, 2026, eBay excludes eBay Live transactions from Seller Level, Top Rated Plus eligibility and Service Metrics, announced September 15: "Starting October 15, 2026, transactions completed through eBay Live will no longer be included in your Seller Level, Top Rated Plus eligibility, or Service Metrics."

Math: Below Standard sellers pay an extra 6% final value fee, rising to 7% after four months; a high Item Not As Described rate adds 5%, rising to 6%. Top Rated Plus typically carries a 10% final value fee discount. Any downgrade caused by the change waits for the November 20 evaluation.

Execute: If Live volume has been carrying your Seller Level or Top Rated Plus status, recompute it on non-Live transactions alone before November 20. (Value Added Resource)
