Amazon Seller Briefing: September 10, 2026
CBP makes missing copper smelt and cast data a fatal ACE error on September 14, 2026, rejecting cable and cord entries under HTSUS 8544. That lands two days before the September 16 FBA inbound deadline for Prime Big Deal Days, and Section 232 drone duties now reach 100%.
Good morning, sellers! Welcome to September 10, 2026's edition. Today: ACE starts rejecting cable and cord entries Monday over copper data most suppliers do not track, the drone tariffs are live at up to 100%, and your Sponsored Products ads have been serving inside creator reviews since August. Let's dive in…

1. Top Story of the Day
ACE starts rejecting cable and cord entries September 14 over missing copper smelt and cast data
What happened: CBP issued CSMS #69711865 on August 31, 2026. Effective Monday, September 14, 2026, ACE escalates error F794 ADDTNL DEC TYPE RQRD FOR ARTICLE from a warning to a fatal error on copper entry summaries. Any summary missing the primary country of smelt or the country of cast is rejected outright. Reporting began July 30, 2026 under CSMS #69252300 and covers HTSUS 8544.42.10, 8544.42.20, 8544.42.90 and 8544.49.10 from every origin except the United States, filed in the 54 record as Importer's Additional Declaration Type Code 12. Where the country cannot be determined, importers may report OTH.
Why it matters: Those four lines are not industrial mill product. 8544.42 is insulated electric conductors for a voltage not exceeding 1,000 V fitted with connectors — appliance power cords, USB and charging cables, extension cords, any cable assembly with a molded plug or crimped terminal. 8544.49 is the same without connectors. Until Monday a missing smelt or cast country produced a warning and the entry moved. From Monday it does not, and the rejection lands inside the Q4 inbound window — the FBA deadline for Prime Big Deal Days on Amazon-optimized splits is September 16.
Expert take: This is a data problem one tier below your supplier. Smelt and cast describe where the copper was refined and poured, which a cable factory frequently does not track and will not carry on a commercial invoice. The OTH fallback is why this is survivable — an entry need not wait on a mill certificate. What it does not survive is a broker finding the gap at filing.
Action items:
- Ask your broker today whether the smelt and cast fields are populated on your recent 8544 entries. Until Monday the answer is invisible, because the error is only a warning.
- Instruct the broker in writing to file OTH where the mill data is genuinely unavailable. Blank is a rejection; a guessed country is a misdeclaration.
- Sequence it against September 16. A rejected entry can be corrected, but the correction spends days you budgeted for receiving.

2. False Alarms & Noise Filter
Debunked — "Amazon expanded Price History from 90 days to 365 days this week."
What we actually know: The feature is real and the timing is wrong. It is circulating in a September 8, 2026 seller-news roundup as current. The 365-day tier was announced May 1, 2026, and a second wave of coverage dates the rollout to June 30, 2026. Amazon still describes it as rolling out in the US, UK and India, with the 30-day and 90-day views live in the US, UK, Canada and India. Nothing changed this week — but the exposure is durable, and a promotional price now sits beside the everyday price it was measured against for a full year. (ppc.land)
3. Marketplace Opportunities & Threats
The drone tariff is origin-graded, which makes country of manufacture a pricing position
Setup: Section 232 duties on unmanned aircraft systems took effect September 3, 2026, under a proclamation signed August 13, 2026, with CBP guidance in CSMS #69738151 on September 2, 2026. The 100% rate covers UAS above 25 kilograms maximum take-off weight, UAS with thermal imagers, UAS docking stations and the Annex I components; the 25% rate covers UAS at or below 25 kilograms. Reduced rates run up to 15% for the EU, Japan, Liechtenstein, Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan and up to 10% for the UK, both pending further guidance, and 0% applies under a Commerce-approved onshoring plan.
Math: A UAS with a thermal imager entering at a declared customs value of $300 draws $300 in duty at 100%. The same unit qualifying for EU, Japan, Liechtenstein, Korea, Switzerland or Taiwan treatment draws up to $45, and up to $30 at the UK rate — assessed on declared customs value, not on your Amazon list price.
Execute: Establish which annex your SKUs fall in, and what your maximum take-off weight actually is against the 25-kilogram line — it decides 100% against 25%. Confirm whether a thermal imager is present, because it moves a sub-25-kilogram unit into the 100% band on its own. A further 25% reaches the Annex III components on February 9, 2027, so a bill of materials that is clean today may not be in February. (CBP; rate structure per KPMG)
4. Advertising & PPC Insights
Sponsored Products campaigns have been serving inside Amazon Influencer Program creator content — reviews, editorial content and buying guides — since August 10, 2026. Amazon updated its off-Amazon documentation on August 4 and enrolled active campaigns by default at existing bids and budgets, with no opt-in step. Two campaign-level controls exist: Increase reach, the default, and Limit off-Amazon spend, which Amazon says may reduce impressions. Specific creators can be excluded. Top of Search and Product Pages bid adjustments do not apply off Amazon, though dynamic bidding does, and the UK is absent from the published eligible-market list.
The measurement gap is the real cost. Off-Amazon delivery reports through the Sponsored Products Placement Report in Campaign Manager and the Placement Classification metric in the Amazon Ads API. Until you pull it, that spend is buried in a blended placement number, and the Top of Search modifier you are paying for does not follow the click. (ppc.land)
