Amazon Seller Briefing: September 4, 2026
Amazon set January 2027 as the shutoff for Sponsored Brands Product Collection ads, and from September 2026 new campaigns auto-convert to Manual Collections with custom images no longer rendering. Seller Fulfilled Prime's weekend metric exclusion ends October 17, 2026. Otherwise a quiet day, with no new Seller Central announcement.
Good morning, sellers! Welcome to September 4, 2026's edition. Today: Amazon puts a hard end date on Sponsored Brands Product Collection ads, the Seller Fulfilled Prime weekend grace period gets its expiry, and Shein prices its Hong Kong listing at roughly a quarter of its 2022 valuation. Let's dive in…
Data gathered at 6:05 AM ET, September 4, 2026.
Amazon published no new Seller Central announcement in the past 24 hours. This edition is short because the verified material is thin — padding a quiet day would not serve you.
1. Top Story of the Day
Amazon sets a January 2027 shutoff for Sponsored Brands Product Collection ads
What happened: Amazon has put a firm end date on the legacy Sponsored Brands Product Collection ad format — January 2027, after which creation requests will not be accepted through the ads console or the Amazon Ads API. The interim step lands this month: from September 2026, any newly created Product Collection campaign is automatically converted into a Manual Collection. New campaigns still accept a custom image, but Amazon will not render it. Existing campaigns keep serving impressions and remain manageable until the cutoff.
Why it matters: The replacement, Sponsored Brands collections, launched May 27, 2026 and holds up to 10 products in a single ad unit against the legacy format's three. It runs in one of two modes — Automatic, where Amazon's AI curates the grouping from your campaign targets, or Manual, where you pick 3-10 products yourself. The mode choice is permanent per ad group. The custom headline and lifestyle creative that defined Product Collection ads are gone. Collections is live in 18 marketplaces.
Expert take: The trap is the non-rendering custom image. A campaign built in September accepts the asset, reports no error, then serves without it — so a creative test run this quarter measures nothing. Rebuild deliberately in Collections rather than let the auto-conversion decide the ad for you.
Action items:
- Inventory your live Product Collection campaigns and flag the ones carrying custom creative you rely on — their performance changes when the creative stops rendering.
- Choose Automatic or Manual mode per ad group before you build. The choice cannot be reversed.
- Do not read January 2027 as the testing deadline. New-campaign behavior already changed, so a September creative test is invalid unless it runs in Collections.

2. Amazon Policy & Program Updates
Seller Fulfilled Prime
The weekend grace period on Seller Fulfilled Prime speed metrics ends October 17, 2026. Amazon raised the SFP thresholds on July 6, 2026: for standard-size, the one-day requirement rose from 30% to 40% of Prime page views and two-day from 70% to 75%; for oversize, one-day rose from 10% to 15%, with five-day at 80%; for extra-large, two-day rose from 15% to 25%, with five-day at 60%. Weekend orders still have to be fulfilled — they are simply excluded from speed evaluation until October 17.
The consequence is a measurement one. Your speed scores currently understate weekend exposure, and the number moves on October 17 without any change in your operations — two days after peak fulfillment fees begin. Rescore your last 60 days of SFP orders with weekends included first. (ppc.land, citing Amazon's Seller Central documentation)
2A. False Alarms & Noise Filter
Monitoring — "Amazon's per-ZIP delivery promise tool for Seller Fulfilled Prime launches in September 2026."
What we actually know: The tool is real in concept — it would let SFP sellers set shipping cut-off times, weekend availability and shipping speed at ZIP code level, feeding the delivery promise on the detail page. The timing is not confirmed, Amazon's own communications have been inconsistent, and no launch announcement has appeared as of this morning. Plan the October 17 change on the assumption you may not have it. (SentryKit)
3. Marketplace Opportunities & Threats
Second Chance inventory is discounted on your detail pages this week
Second Chance Deal Days runs September 1-10 in Europe — the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain — and August 28 to September 7 in the US as Second Chance Savings. Discounts reach up to 50% off the equivalent new item's recommended retail price in Europe and up to 30% in the US, across more than 60 million returned and refurbished units in Europe.
This is a competitive-pricing read, not a promotion you can enter. In electronics, home, kitchen, gaming and personal tech, check whether the Featured Offer on your ASINs is going to a good-condition offer at a 30-50% discount before you blame this week's conversion dip on your listing. 4. Advertising & PPC Insights
Amazon advertising services revenue reached $19.8 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 26% year over year from $15.7 billion — close to twice the growth rate of online store revenue, with Sponsored Products still the largest offering.
That growth line is the commercial reason a format consolidation is happening at all. It measures Amazon's take, not your cost per click, so it is not a budgeting input. (About Amazon)
5. International & Cross-Border
Shein listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under code 00625 at HK$48.56 per share, for net proceeds of about HK$13.60 billion, roughly $1.74 billion. The offer valued the company at approximately $26.5 billion, against a private-market valuation near $100 billion in 2022 — a markdown of about 74%. The stock fell as much as 10% on debut and closed down 9%.
This is the second cost signal in a week landing on the same competitor set. France's per-item levy on ultra-fast fashion took effect September 1, and a public listing now forces Shein to report margins under it. Apparel sellers on the EU marketplaces should read the discount as the market pricing tariff exposure, duty and freight into the ultra-low-price model — pressure under the price floor you compete against, not a cost landing on you.
