Cookies and GDPR Notice

Notice updated .

This site currently sets no cookies of its own. A cookie-choices dialog appears on your first visit and must be answered before you use the page. It has two buttons of equal size, “Accept required” and “Accept all”. Right now no optional service exists on this site, so both choices leave it working identically. Your answer is stored in your browser’s localStorage, never on a server, and you can change it at any time.

How consent works here

  1. On your first visit a dialog appears over the page before any optional script could run. Nothing optional is loaded until you choose “Accept all”.
  2. “Accept required” gives you the whole site. No page or feature is withheld, and nothing optional ever loads.
  3. “Accept all” permits the optional services the dialog lists. This site loads none today, so it currently changes nothing.
  4. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is treated as “no”: the dialog is not shown and optional services stay off.
  5. Your choice is stored locally under the key yei-consent (“granted” or “denied”). All publications on youressentialinsights.com share one origin, so one answer applies to all of them.
  6. You can change it any time using Cookie choices, which reopens the dialog. The same link is in the footer of every page.

Categories of storage used

CategoryStatus hereWhat it would do
Strictly necessaryOne localStorage key (yei-consent)Remembers your consent choice. Cannot be disabled, because forgetting it would mean asking again on every page.
AnalyticsNone loadedWould count visits and page views. Would load only after “Accept all”.
AdvertisingNone loaded (slots are placeholders)Would serve ads and may set cookies for personalisation. Would load only after “Accept all”.
AffiliateLinks only, no scriptsFollowing a marked affiliate link takes you to a retailer, whose own cookie policy then applies.

Under the UK and EU GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, non-essential storage requires your consent. That is why nothing beyond the consent key itself is written before you choose, and why “Accept required” is presented as an equally prominent option rather than buried.

You may withdraw consent at any time using the link above, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings, which removes the stored key entirely. To exercise any other data right, see the privacy policy.

Opening this site from a file

These pages work when opened directly from disk with no web server. In that mode the cookie-choices dialog does not load, because it is served from the website’s root, and nothing optional runs: this site loads no analytics or advertising service in any case, so no network request is made on its behalf.
