About the iPhone Intelligence Briefing
Updated .
The iPhone Intelligence Briefing is an independent publication for everyday iPhone owners. It exists to make one phone easier to use, safer to trust, and less distracting — through same-day settings changes with a stated verification step, rather than through rumours, leaks, or hidden-feature clickbait. It is not affiliated with Apple Inc.
Who this is for
People who depend on their phone and do not want to learn every feature: everyday users who want it to just work, busy professionals, parents managing a child’s device, creators who value efficiency, and anyone who cares about what their phone gives away. If a sentence does not make an iPhone easier, safer, or more useful today, it does not belong here.
How this site is written
Every guide follows the same structure, deliberately:
- A short, quotable answer directly under the heading, so you can stop reading there if that is all you needed.
- Steps written as action, why it helps, and how to verify it worked. The verification is the part most advice omits and the part that tells you whether you actually changed anything.
- A method section in plain words — not what to tap, but why the underlying system behaves that way. Understanding the mechanism is what lets you handle the variation your situation has and this page does not.
- One worked example with real numbers or a concrete case.
- A visible last-reviewed date and links to the Apple documentation the page relies on.
Our editorial rules
- No fabrication. We do not invent hidden features, guaranteed battery gains, or undocumented system behaviour. Where something cannot be verified, the page says not reported rather than estimating.
- No rumours or leaks. Unreleased hardware and speculation are outside the remit entirely.
- Limits are stated. Where a feature does not do what people assume, the page says so — Private Browsing, App Tracking Transparency, and content filters all have sections about what they do not cover.
- Version-sensitive material is dated and sourced. iOS menus move, so pages link Apple’s own documentation and carry a review date rather than pretending to be permanent.
- Corrections are made in place, with the review date updated. If you find something wrong, tell us.
How this is funded
Three ways, all disclosed. Advertising — the marked ad slots on these pages are placeholders and are not currently live. Affiliate links — a small number of pages, currently the accessories and charging guides, contain affiliate links; each link is marked, and a disclosure appears near the top of the content rather than buried in the footer. The newsletter is free and is not a sales channel.
No manufacturer, retailer, or app developer reviews any page before publication, and no recommendation here is paid placement. Where we recommend not buying something — which happens on the upgrade and accessories pages — that is the recommendation.
